There are many ways to become an owner through a syndicate, here's how it works:

Getting Started

Join an established syndicate suited to your budget, preferred trainer, and level of involvement. Or form your own with friends, family, or colleagues. HRI can provide independent advice on how to set up a syndicate or introduce you to a syndicate agent.

Many trainers have shares available in horses and existing syndicates. Let us know which trainer you’re interested in getting involved with and we will make some enquiries for you and introduce you. 

What To Expect As An Owner

Shared ownership of a racehorse registered with Horse Racing Ireland.
Regular communication and updates on the horse’s training and race plans.
Invitations to stable visits, owner events and race days.

MANAGEMENT

A syndicate is managed by one person known as ‘an agent’. The agent manages all aspect of the syndicate including administration and communication between the trainer and fellow shareholders.  
If joining a syndicate that is already set up, the new shareholder should ensure he/she receives a copy of the Syndicate Agreement and Code of Conduct. The shareholder and agent should agree these terms and keep a signed copy.

Participation in a racing syndicate is an enjoyable way to become involved in the sport, but it is important to understand the financial and practical aspects.

Costs – Each syndicate outlines its initial contribution and estimated ongoing expenses, such as training, veterinary care and entry fees.

Risk – Racing and training involve inherent risks; there is no guarantee of prize money or resale value.

Transparency – Syndicate managers are required to provide clear information on costs, returns and decision-making processes.
