  • A partnership consists of 2-4 people, each of whom must be registered owners in their owner right. A partnership is lodged for a particular horse, then racing under all the partners' names or a chosen collective name. As all partners are registered owners, one of the partners (Partner 1) must have colours registered and this set will be used for the overall partnership.

Partnerships allow those involved to divide up their debits (cost of running) and credits (prize-money) depending on the shares nominated on the form. While not allowing the number of people a syndicate allows for, the partnership is a good way of sharing the costs between a smaller group of owners.

When registering a partnership there are two accounting options available on the form:

    • All debits and credits will be processed in proportion to a partner’s shareholding as indicated on the Partnership Form.
    • All debits and credits may be processed through the account of the first named partner by ticking the appropriate box on the Partnership Form.
A partnership owned horse can run under one of the following formats:

    1. The first named partner only, or
    2. A collective partnership name, e.g. The Kildare Partnership or
    3. A combination of all or some of the partners involved.
